And last but by no means least, an afternoon of 15's rugby just before the season stars and just before the 2011 Rugby world cup kicks of in New Zealand, fun was had by all with a Cider festival going on as well as some live music later on in the evening. Well done to all the teams that took part and well done to the Bristol Barbarians for making it to the final but especially to St Bernadettes old boys for winning the tournament! http://www.facebook.com/clairhuckle.photography The yearly event that takes place in and around Corn street in central Bristol, so many lovely bikes from the old to the new as well as restored bikes, and a little bit of fundraising for charity and a few stalls with leathers and helmets for sale and you can of course enter your bike into a competition, or become a member of an owners club. No I didn't enter my bike although I was told I should have brought it in instead of parking it out of the way, maybe next year. To see more of my photo's please visit my facebook page at....
http://www.facebook.com/clairhuckle.photography This was the 33rd year of the Balloon Fiesta and it keeps going from strength to strength. More and more balloons are coming to Bristol every year adding to the mass ascents and this year over 100 balloons took part in what is one of the leading worldwide events in the ballooning industry. This year was also the 40th anniversary of Cameron Balloons who had their own marquee tent next to the main arena where they had two lovely ladies making a full size centenary balloon. Visiting the fiesta can make for a long day, starting with the first mass ascents at 6am, and on Thursday and Saturday nights ending with a spectacular balloon glow and firework display. This years theme was “Movies” and the balloons glowed in time to themetracks from some $of the best known films ever made. The climax resulted in fireworks to Apollo 4-40’s lost in space But along with all the full size balloons, model balloons and aircraft were some impressive displays in the main arena from the Avon and Somerset fire brigade, cutting people out of cars and Flyin’ Ryan and his motorbike stunt display team jumping through flames and explosions. There was the chance to try out your archery skills and have a go at clay pigeon shooting and of course the selection of lovely fair ground rides. You could even get to meet and pet a guide dog or two. There was always plenty of things to do be you young or old or if you wanted something more sedate you could just wander around the many stalls around the arena or enjoy a tipple or two in one of the outside Bars supplied by Zero degrees. Some of the live music being performed also showed off the wealth of talented local artists from in and around Bristol. I of course was mostly there to photograph the mass ascents of which 5 out of 7 actually happened, and even a drop of rain didn’t stop them going up on Friday morning. The four day fiesta was of course finished on Sunday evening by the ever stunning Red Arrows, who flew in to Bristol, and the whole city seemed to have come to a full stop to watch their display as they twisted and turned undertaking various stunts in the sky over Bristol.
